ScanerOne – Privacy policy
Effective date: 5 November 2026
This policy explains what information the ScanerOne Android app ("the app") handles and why. Questions: [email protected].
In short: your scans, photos and PDFs stay on your phone. They leave it only when you share them yourself, or when you use Share as link, which uploads that one file to our server and deletes it after 5 days. The app shows ads, and Google's ad and analytics tools collect the data described below.
Your scans, photos and documents
- Photos you take or choose are processed on your phone to find page edges, crop, apply filters, make passport photos, print sheets and PDFs.
- Scans, PDFs and photos are stored only in the app's own storage on your phone. We cannot see them. Photos you choose to save to the Gallery go to your phone's Pictures/ScanerOne folder.
- Text recognition, QR scanning and passport background removal use Google ML Kit, delivered through Google Play services. The images are processed on your phone and are not sent to Google or to us. Play services may download the recognition models the first time.
- e-Aadhaar and other PDF passwords you type are used only to open the file on your phone and are not saved.
- Customer folders, scan history (QR codes), browser bookmarks and your list of shared links are stored only on your phone.
- Deleting a document, or using Clear customer, removes the files from your phone. Uninstalling the app removes all app data.
Share as link
When you choose Share as link for a file:
- That file and its name are uploaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to the ScanerOne share server, which stores them under a random, unguessable link.
- Anyone who has the link can download the file. Only send links to people you trust, especially for Aadhaar, PAN and other identity documents.
- The file is deleted automatically 5 days after upload, or earlier when you tap Delete now in the app.
- To prevent abuse, the server limits how many files one internet address can upload per hour; for this it keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of the IP address for up to one hour. We do not use uploaded files for any other purpose.
In-app browser
- Websites you open in the app's browser receive the same information as in any browser (such as your IP address) and are covered by their own privacy policies.
- Cookies and site data are stored on your phone. Google Safe Browsing checks web addresses to warn you about dangerous sites.
- Files you download are saved in the app's storage; files you upload are sent only to the website you chose.
Permissions
- Camera – to scan documents, cards, QR codes and take passport photos, only when you open those screens.
- Photos and files – the app uses Android's photo and file pickers, so it can only read the items you choose.
- Internet – for ads, analytics, Share as link, the browser and Google Play services.
- Vibrate – a short buzz when a QR code is found.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects your device's advertising ID and app set ID, your IP address (used to estimate general location), interactions with the app and ads, and app performance diagnostics. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and other regions where it is required, we ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Privacy options. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)
The app uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how it is used (for example, which tools are opened) so we can improve it. It collects an app-instance ID, the advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, and app usage events. It never receives your scans or files. See Firebase privacy information.
What we do not do
- We do not require an account and do not collect your name, email address or contacts.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Customer names and mobile numbers you type in Customer folders stay on your phone.
Data collected by the Google SDKs and Share as link is encrypted in transit.
Your choices
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
- Change your ad consent in the app under Settings → Privacy options (where available).
- Delete shared links early with Delete now in Share as link.
- Delete your files in the app, or uninstall the app to remove all app data from your phone.
Not a government app
ScanerOne is an independent app. It is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by any government or by UIDAI, the Income Tax Department or any other authority. Links to official websites are provided for convenience.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
